Day 1 Garden Reflections 

Penny is on to her next Adventure

Hello!  I've had a great time at Shannon's B&B & proud to be the 18th pup Shannon has hosted.  I've gained 6 1/2 lbs over the last 2 weeks & I am ready to find my forever home now. Shannon wrote down a few things I've learned over the last couple of weeks.  Check out how smart I am!!  Thanks for sharing my adventures! Are you looking for a fun, sweet, smart girl to enjoy the Albuquerque sunshine with?  If so, I’m the pup for you!  My name is Penny and I am so smart that I am already learning the commands Sit & Come & I am well on my way to being housebroken.  If you help me remember to go outside right after naps, eating, and playing a while, I rarely have an accident in the house!  Not bad for 8 weeks, right?!?  Oh, sometimes I need to make a couple of pit stops in the morning to make sure I don’t have an accident in the house.

 I love to clean and garden!  There is nothing more fun than chasing the broom while it sweeps, helping you dig the holes for the new plants, or bringing the plants to you.  I love to run and play.  I make my foster mom laugh as I summersault through the grass & bounce like a deer!  I get along great with other dogs & cats & want nothing more than to play with them or you!  I really enjoy tug-o-war with a rope toy & Frisbee.  I am learning that teeth are for toys & not hands or ankles, so please be patient with me as you continue to teach me. 

 I’ve experienced a leash & I think it’s really great for us to explore with!  I’m also learning the command Boundary.  My foster mom uses soda cans full on pennies to line the doorway of the room that contains the cat food & litterbox so I don’t get into them.  And, bonus, because I’m so smart, I can get a tad stubborn at times, but a shake of that can redirects me to a more positive activity.  It’s WAY more effective than yelling “NO”.

 When I am all worn out, my forehead will get all wrinkly & I love to sleep in my crate.  It’s a nice, cozy den for me – especially if you make it dark with a couple of blankets.  I curl up with the soft, fuzzy blankets on one side, and if you put a piddle pad on the other, I will keep it nice & neat. Sometimes I still need a piddle pad in the middle of the night – but as I get bigger, I’m going more & more nights without using it!  You will find I like a schedule & I generally put myself to bed about 8 PM & get up about 6 AM (Yep, I sleep all the way through the night).  I’m a morning girl & I am so excited to see you in the morning & have lots of energy to play before I take my morning nap.  With my short hair, I can get chilled on these cool mornings & with my fair complexion, I need to be careful not to get sunburned.
